Criminal Defense: Intent Not Required for Bail Jump 2 Conviction

dog-the-bounty-hunter

Missing a criminal court date is serious. A person is guilty of bail jumping in the second degree when they have been released from custody in connection with a felony charge, and when they do not appear on the required date or within thirty days. Therefore, the People were not required to establish any culpable mental state to obtain a conviction. (Bail jumping in the second degree is a class E felony.).
